For the first time this season, West Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Yreka Miners will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Yreka will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: West Valley extended their winning streak to three last Friday. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Enterprise 48-12. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

West Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chayce Reed, who rushed for 171 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Reed is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. Kale Springer was in the mix too, providing West Valley with two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 266 rushing yards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yreka). They took their matchup last Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over Mazama. The Miners have beaten the Vikings the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.
Yreka's win came from a few key players West Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cash Collier, who rushed for 143 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Jerome Walker also helped out as he racked up 158 rushing yards.
Yreka's defense made their presence known, laying out Kellen Lee three times. Leading the way was Noah Mannix with two sacks. Yreka got some further help from Trent Winter: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
West Valley's record now sits at 4-1. As for Yreka, their record is now an identical 4-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. West Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 247.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Yreka struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 210 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
West Valley ended up a good deal behind Yreka in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 17-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
