Softball Game Preview: Crawford County Wolfpack vs. Eastern Musketeers

The Crawford County Wolfpack will challenge the Eastern Musketeers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Crawford County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Paoli.

Madison Pitman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Crawford County let Sylvia Ferriell and Marley Berg run wild. Ferriell got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Berg went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave Ferriell a new career-high. Brynn Ingle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Eastern came out on top against Austin on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Musketeers took their matchup against the Eagles 6-1. The win continues a trend for the Musketeers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Eastern also let their pitcher toss all seven innings played and she was also dialed-in: Bracie Jackson gave up only one earned run on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. Jackson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bailey Trainor was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Sidney Patton, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Crawford County's record now sits at 5-16. As for Eastern, their record is now 8-11.

Crawford County suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Eastern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
