Lutheran West gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against the John Marshall Lawyers as the Lutheran West Longhorns made off with a 13-5 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lutheran West also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.
Brendan Middendorf looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Lutheran West let Bryce Groppe and Eric Dill loose on the outfield. Groppe scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Dill scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Brandon Schneider was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran West will take on Streetsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Marshall, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Wickliffe at 9:30 p.m.
