The Lubbock Westerners are taking a road trip to square off against the Snyder Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lubbock took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Big Spring by a score of 31-20. The win was some much needed relief for the Westerners as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Braiden Dunkerson was a one-man wrecking crew for Lubbock as he rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Dunkerson is now averaging an impressive 138.5 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, Snyder gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They managed a 40-34 victory over Lake View. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Daenin Smith and Aedyn Claxton were among the main playmakers for Snyder as the former gained 174 total yards and three touchdowns and the latter threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns.

Snyder wouldn't let Lake View keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Snyder can thank Keshaun Lenard and Daniel Cabrera for forcing both of them. That's the most total yards Cabrera has posted since back in September of 2023.

Lubbock's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for Snyder, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
