Basketball Recap: Fabens Comes Up Short

Fabens extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 11-13. They were beaten by the Mountain View Lobos 72-33. The Wildcats lost against the Lobos in their previous head to head back in February of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-49 score last time.

As for Mountain View, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-7. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Devin Gonzalez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Mountain View is 13-2 when Gonzalez posts 15 or more points, but 4-5 otherwise. Deurice Goss was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 boards and three steals.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fabens will challenge rival Ysleta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mountain View is set to square off against their familiar foe San Elizario at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
