Softball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Wildcats vs. Powell Panthers

Oak Ridge is 0-10 against Powell since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oak Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat West and fell 8-7. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gloria Rust made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Lindsay Faulkner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Powell narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hardin Valley Academy 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Powell also got a great performance from Emily Jeffers as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Jeffers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Powell saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylan Heatherly, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Another was Emersyn Mayes, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Powell's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
