Softball Recap: Lawrence County's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Lawrence County entered their tilt with West Morgan on Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Rebels 9-3. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Raegan Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, AB McKay was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ava Templeton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 36-10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for West Morgan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-20-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will face off against Austin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Morgan, they will take on Sulligent in a tournament on Friday.
