Softball Recap: Waukegan Comes Up Short

Waukegan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 23-6 to the Elgin Maroons. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring game to date.

LeiLani Nieves made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. Kat Salcedo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Waukegan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Elgin, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.

While Waukegan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
