Maxwell hadn't done well against Hitchcock County recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Falcons. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Maxwell can attribute much of their success to Madelynn Nelson, who had six digs and three aces.

Hitchcock County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Hagan, who had nine digs and two aces, and Madysen Carlson, who had seven kills, four digs, and one block. Carlson has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last five times she's played.

Maxwell now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hitchcock County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Maxwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Anselmo-Merna on the 30th. As for Hitchcock County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against H&H on the 30th.
