Soccer Recap: Wheeling Comes Up Short

Wheeling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Schaumburg Saxons. While losing is never fun, Wheeling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Schaumburg are ranked 118th).

Wheeling's goal came courtesy of Andy Cherestal, which was the first he's scored this season.

Wheeling's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-2. As for Schaumburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4-2.

Wheeling has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 victory against Buffalo Grove on the 25th. As for Schaumburg, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Barrington on the 26th.
