Flag Football Game Preview: University Trojans vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

University is a perfect 3-0 against Laguna Beach since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Breakers at 6:00 p.m. Laguna Beach took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on University, who comes in off a win.

University will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points on Monday, then bounced right back against Irvine on Wednesday. The Trojans blew past the Vaqueros 32-6. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Vaqueros recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Among those leading the charge was Carson Cruz, who threw for 211 yards and four TDs while completing 77.1% of her passes. What's more, she racked up 105.8 passer rating, the most she's had since back in September.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to University's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Ella Carmichael was the leader with three.

Meanwhile, Laguna Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of Rosary Academy.

University's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Laguna Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Everything came up roses for University against Laguna Beach when the teams last played back in September, as the squad secured a 34-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
