Football Recap: T.C. Roberson Skates Past South Caldwell with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask T.C. Roberson). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-6 victory over the South Caldwell Spartans. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-6.

A big part of T.C. Roberson's win came down to the chemistry between Karod Harris and his top target Kanyus Atkins. Harris threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes while Atkins picked up 154 receiving yards and three TDs. Atkins' longest reception was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Mookah Simpson was another key player, gaining 90 total yards and a touchdown.

T.C. Roberson didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Caldwell to a completion percentage of just 35%. That defensive display was nothing new: the Rams have limited their opponent to a lower and lower completion percentage in three consecutive contests.

T.C. Roberson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Kevion Holloway led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. T.C. Roberson got some further help from Tariq Sibert: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (6.0 for loss).

With the victory, T.C. Roberson broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for South Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-3.

T.C. Roberson and South Caldwell will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Rams see the field they'll take on Asheville at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. As for South Caldwell, their break will end when they face McDowell at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd.
