Basketball Recap: Chiles Timberwolves vs. Madison County Cowboys
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Florida State University High School, Chiles was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They skirted past the Madison County Cowboys 60-57. The Timberwolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cowboys, too.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chiles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Bundrage, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Bundrage a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Craig, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and six boards.
Chiles was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison County only racked up eight assists.
Madison County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Labron Lee, who posted 16 points and three steals. Jhy Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Chiles' victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Madison County, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiles will venture away from home to take on Community Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chiles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. As for Madison County, they will challenge Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madison County also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 64 points per game.
