Softball Recap: Mendon's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Mendon had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They never let the Burr Oak Bobcats get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Hornets have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Rowan Allen's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ally Butler was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Elise Allen, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Mendon's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Burr Oak, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Mendon and Burr Oak should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 54th) will meet Schoolcraft (ranked 285th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Burr Oak will take on Colon at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (155 vs. 361).
