Soccer Game Preview: North Johnston vs. Neuse Charter

The North Johnston Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Neuse Charter Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Johnston will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

North Johnston is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Goldsboro 8-1 two weeks ago. The final result isn't all the surprising considering North Johnston's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Goldsboro are ranked 477th).

North Johnston's offense was hitting Goldsboro from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Mia Davis led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Neuse Charter's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hobbton. Having soared to a lofty eight goals in the game before, Neuse Charter couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Johnston pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six games. As for Neuse Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

North Johnston skirted past Neuse Charter 3-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
