Softball Recap: Renville County West Drops Season-High Score on MACCRAY

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Renville County West). They never let the MACCRAY Wolverines get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Mackenna Hinderks made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gracie Viessman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Elfering, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Renville County West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Renville County West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for MACCRAY, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
