Soccer Recap: Springville's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

While Springville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pleasant Grove Vikings a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Springville's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Pleasant Grove are ranked 47th).

Sage Conrad and Savannah Johnston scored both of Springville's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Springville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coincidentally, Springville and Pleasant Grove will both be playing Wasatch the next time they take the pitch. The Red Devils will host the Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Vikings will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
