Football Game Preview: Ovid-Elsie Marauders vs. New Lothrop Hornets + Official Tickets

The Ovid-Elsie Marauders will take on the New Lothrop Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Lothrop took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ovid-Elsie, who comes in off a win.

Ovid-Elsie is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Chesaning, posting a 58-16 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-10.

Chase Fabus was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also caught one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ovid-Elsie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesaning only rushed for 49.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, New Lothrop's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 28-14 to Montrose. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, New Lothrop saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaron Wenzlick picked up 158 receiving yards and one score. Those 158 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Wenzlick.

Ovid-Elsie pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games. As for New Lothrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Ovid-Elsie against New Lothrop in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-0 victory. Do the Marauders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
