Baseball Recap: West Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

West had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on March 7th.

John Guilfoyle Jr. spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of West's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Alberto Gomez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryu Uchida also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

West's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Palos Verdes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

West will have a chance to go back-to-back against Palos Verdes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
