Baseball Game Preview: Bonham Warriors vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

For the second straight game, Bonham will face off against Van Alstyne. The Warriors will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bonham has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 22.

Bonham fell victim to Van Alstyne and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-0.

For Van Alstyne's part, the result came thanks to Landon Newkirk's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. Newkirk has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Van Alstyne's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Upton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Van Alstyne is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bonham, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
