Softball Recap: Elk County Catholic Takes a Loss

Elk County Catholic extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6-1 in the process. They came up short against the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, falling 17-0. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Redbank Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Redbank Valley's part, Mackenzie Foringer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Foringer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Quinn White was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Troup, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk County Catholic will head out to take on Brockway at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Redbank Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Karns City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
