DeKalb won the last time they faced New Haven and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Barons were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The Barons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Aydan Parr and Bryson Gadson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Parr tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gadson pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, Parr posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Parr went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gadson went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Parr also snagged a stolen base, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brendan Vance, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miles Brockhouse, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
DeKalb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matches.
DeKalb's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Haven, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6.
