Winfield came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Huntington Highlanders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Generals: when they faced off against the Highlanders back in April, they had to take a 11-7 defeat.

Brody Ilderton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Brayson Downey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Blake Withrow was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Winfield pushed their record up to 21-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Winfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Huntington, they are taking a road trip to face off against Parkersburg South at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
