Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Academy Takes a Loss

St. Mary's Academy was the 44-42 winner over Newman when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Mary's Academy Cougars had to suffer through a 55-25 loss at the hands of the Newman Greenies.

St. Mary's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Newman, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's Academy will square off against St. Mary's Dominican at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary's Dominican will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. Mary's Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Newman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-23 win against South Plaquemines on the 7th.
