Baseball Recap: Lake Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Lake Central dropped their record down to 17-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crown Point Bulldogs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Crown Point, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

For Crown Point's part, not much got past Linus Chariton, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Lake Central off the board. Chariton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Billy Chidsey was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Caden Matusak was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Lake Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-3 win against Mishawaka Marian on the 16th. As for Crown Point, they have also already played their next matchup, a 21-1 victory against Morgan Township on the 16th.
