Baseball Recap: Middle Creek Comes Up Short

Middle Creek was the 1-0 winner over Wakefield when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ryan Morris was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Middle Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Murray, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Middle Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Wakefield, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Coming up, Middle Creek will take on Broughton at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wakefield, they will challenge Athens Drive at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
