Basketball Game Preview: Hillsboro Eagles vs. Life Waxahachie Mustangs

Hillsboro and Life Waxahachie are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Hillsboro Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Life Waxahachie Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. Hillsboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.

Hillsboro will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Alvarado, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Hillsboro strolled past Alvarado with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 55-40. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Hillsboro's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlee Mack, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Mack has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Tucker, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Life Waxahachie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Ferris, falling 65-32.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Life Waxahachie, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Hillsboro was able to grind out a solid win over Life Waxahachie when the teams last played back in January, winning 56-45. Will Hillsboro repeat their success, or does Life Waxahachie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
