Football Recap: Cleburne County Piles Up the Points Against Wellborn

It was a proper cat-fight when Cleburne County faced off against Wellborn on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 41-12. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cleburne County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cade Shubert, who picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 73 yards and one TD. Another passer making a difference was JAYLON BAKER, who threw for 209 yards and three TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes.

Cleburne County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Robinson and LYRIC WARE. Cleburne County received some extra help from Erick Escandon-Paredes, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Cleburne County's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Wellborn, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Cleburne County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-16 defeat against Tallassee on the 3rd. As for Wellborn, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ohatchee at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Indians will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
