Football Game Preview: Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks vs. Spanish River Sharks

The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks will take on the Spanish River Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Archbishop McCarthy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 19-13 to Chaminade-Madonna. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Lions are ranked 64th).

Meanwhile, Spanish River's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Saturday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 19-18 to Lennard. The contest marked the Sharks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Archbishop McCarthy's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Spanish River, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Archbishop McCarthy was dealt a bruising 33-6 loss at the hands of Spanish River in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Archbishop McCarthy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
