Volleyball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Salt Fork Storm

Oakwood is 2-8 against Salt Fork since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Comets will welcome the Storm at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Oakwood turned things around against Iroquois West on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 2-0.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 30-28, 26-24.

Kendyl Rogers had a dynamite game, getting 16 digs and four aces. What's more, she posted two kills, the most she's had over her last seven matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Dailey, who had ten assists and eight digs.

Meanwhile, Salt Fork hadn't done well against St. Joseph-Ogden recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Wednesday. The Storm had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Salt Fork got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-14.

Oakwood's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Salt Fork, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
