Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Bulls vs. South Miami Cobras

A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Northwestern Bulls will challenge the South Miami Cobras on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Northwestern sitting on ten straight wins and South Miami on four.

Northwestern is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Hialeah: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Northwestern blew Hialeah out of the water with a 70-38 final score. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, South Miami rose to the challenge on Monday. They slipped by the Conchs 51-50.

South Miami has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Northwestern, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Northwestern took their victory against South Miami in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 67-44. In that game, Northwestern amassed a halftime lead of 35-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
