Payson has gone 8-1 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lions will take on the Bruins at 3:30 p.m. Payson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Payson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Timpanogos, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Lions put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 16-6 win on Tuesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Peyton Staheli was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Lucy Jessen was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aydrie Christensen, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Payson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mountain View fell victim to Uintah and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Utes, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their meetings with the Utes: they've now lost eight in a row.
Payson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Mountain View's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Payson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Payson keep running through batters, or will the Bruins buck the trend?
Payson took their victory against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
