Volleyball Recap: West Seattle Comes Up Short

West Seattle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastside Catholic Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Seattle of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

West Seattle wouldn't go down easily and took Eastside Catholic into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 14-25, 15-8.

Velvet Jia was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 24 digs and one assist. Those 24 digs gave her a new career-high. Queen Tone was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

West Seattle's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Eastside Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. West Seattle will challenge rival Bishop Blanchet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Eastside Catholic is set to face off against their familiar foe Seattle Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
