Volleyball Recap: South Elgin Triumphs

South Elgin won the last time they faced Schaumburg and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Storm walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Saxons.

South Elgin not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Schaumburg to exactly 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17.

Cassie Verley paced South Elgin's offense, picking up six kills. Verley got some help from Paige Genke and her 14 assists. Genke was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The win got South Elgin back to even at 1-1. As for Schaumburg, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, South Elgin will welcome Glenbard East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Saxons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
