It's playoff time, and Douglas had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-18 victory over the Dayton Pirates on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on four straight.
Douglas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reese Willis led the charge by picking up 34 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Willis didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made one tackle. Douglas also got a significant boost from Jaden Burkhart, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 142 yards.
Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Dayton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Looking ahead, Douglas will head out on the road to square off against Gervais at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
