Frewsburg is 1-9 against Westfield since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m.
Frewsburg is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 10-7 to Silver Creek.
Teagan Nazario was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Nazario was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Presleigh Stelmack and Mya Carmen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stelmack went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run, while Carmen went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Mickey Hartley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Westfield got the win against Clymer/Sherman on Wednesday by a conclusive 8-2.
Eva Gnadzinski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mackenzie Schumaker was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Smith, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Frewsburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Westfield, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
