Baseball Recap: Community School of Naples Comes Up Short

Community School of Naples fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against IMG Academy Royal on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ascenders by a score of 9-7.

Emmett Perez and Thomas Holland did some serious damage despite the final result: Perez went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI, while Holland went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That home run marked the first that Perez launched this season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Walsh, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Community School of Naples' defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for IMG Academy Royal, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Community School of Naples and IMG Academy Royal are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Seahawks will challenge Gateway Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for IMG Academy Royal, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Inspiration Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
