Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Mabel-Canton's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Mabel-Canton owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Rushford-Peterson Trojans. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Rushford-Peterson's batters probably weren't too happy with Tylar Wenthold, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up three walks). Wenthold has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Mabel-Canton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rushford-Peterson, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-4 victory against Spring Grove on the 19th. As for Rushford-Peterson, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-5 loss against Lewiston-Altura on the 19th.
