Maryvale is 0-4 against Shadow Ridge since March of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Stallions at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Maryvale duked it out with South Mountain on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Isabel Hernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Maryvale let Jaline Ortega and Marianna Jennings run wild. Ortega went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Jennings went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Jennings has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ivette Hernandez Mojica, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Maryvale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Shadow Ridge never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Valley Vista on Tuesday. They blew past the Monsoon 20-1.
The team relied heavily on Madilyn Gentner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Destiny Johnston was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Shadow Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Maryvale, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Maryvale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shadow Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
