It was a good run, but Sulphur Springs unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Paris by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Sulphur Springs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Paris is ranked 417th).

Sulphur Springs' goal came courtesy of Ernesto Alvarez, who's now up to nine this season.

Sulphur Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 19-6-1. As for Paris, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Sulphur Springs didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Chapel Hill on the 20th. Paris will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lindale at 7:30 p.m. on March 21st.
