Basketball Game Preview: Desert View Jaguars vs. Nogales Apaches

Desert View hasn't had much luck against Nogales recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Desert View Jaguars will venture away from home to square off against the Nogales Apaches at 5:30 p.m. Desert View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.

Desert View is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Wednesday. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flowing Wells.

Desert View's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Luis Felix, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Robert Medrano, who posted ten points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Medrano a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Aiden Beavers, who scored six points.

Even though they lost, Desert View was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flowing Wells only posted nine assists.

Meanwhile, Nogales lost 79-54 to Cienega on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Bobcats are ranked 45th).

Nogales has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Desert View, their record now sits at 3-18.

Desert View suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to Nogales when the teams last played back in January. Can Desert View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
