Soccer Game Preview: Elgin vs. MacArthur

The Elgin Owls will head out on the road to challenge the MacArthur Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Elgin didn't have quite enough to beat Santa Fe South and fell 7-6.

Meanwhile, MacArthur had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. MacArthur might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by three goals or more this season.

MacArthur's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Elgin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Elgin suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to MacArthur in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
