League recap: Osmond scores huge upset over Wausa

D2 District 4 (8 Man) recap Oct. 17, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wausa, who took down 34th ranked Wausa, 40-20.

Alex Kunz of Stuart ran for the longest rushing play in D2 District 4 (8 Man) this season against Winside last week. Kunz's team defeated the Wildcats as he sprinted for 60 yards on the play and finished with 151 in all.

The Vikings' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Marcus Claussen threw for 70 and one touchdown and Reid Friedrich had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Claussen chipped in 211 yards. Hunter Vanness helped Wausa's passing attack out by catching three balls for 18 yards.

Wausa's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Claussen has thrown for 1031 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Austin Conn has 16 catches for 368 yards. Claussen also leads the league in rushing with 996 yards.

Claussen of the Wausa is only four yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

The Blue Devils extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Newcastle, 34-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for Wynot.
