Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is New Plymouth's Fifth in Last Six Outings

New Plymouth won against Melba last Friday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The New Plymouth Pilgrims came out on top against the Marsing Huskies by a score of 59-49. This was a revenge game for the Pilgrims: when they faced off against the Huskies back in December of 2024, they had to take a 47-45 defeat.

Juan Ponce and Jace Chadez certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ponce posted 26 points and three steals, while Chadez put up 19 points and five steals. Chadez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dresden Wood, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

New Plymouth has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Marsing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

As for Marsing, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 87-51 loss against The Ambrose School on the 23rd.
