Baseball Recap: West Branch Starts off Right with Win over Glendale

West Branch took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Glendale Vikings a 10-0 shutout. The Warriors not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024.

Lukas Colton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Warren-Kio, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Logan Liptak was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

West Branch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only posted an OBP of .200.

Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, West Branch will challenge Huntingdon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glendale, they will square off against Claysburg-Kimmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
