Baseball Game Preview: Camarillo Scorpions vs. Elsinore Tigers

The Camarillo Scorpions will take on the Elsinore Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Camarillo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Long Beach Poly 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Scorpions sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Camarillo got a great performance from Ryan Coyne as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Coyne also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Scorpions are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 12-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Camarillo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Escobar, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Camarillo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Elsinore won against Bishop Montgomery on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Liberty. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups in a row.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ivan Huerta, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Camarillo's record is now 15-16. As for Elsinore, their record now sits at 21-7.
