Baseball Recap: Fife Beats Auburn Riverside for Their Fourth Straight Victory

After losing to Auburn Riverside the last time they met, Fife decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Ravens on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on four straight.

Evan Reece was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fife is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Reece was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Dylan Hoots and Rocco Gonzales did most of the damage at the plate: Hoots went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Gonzales went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Gonzales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miles Ducharme, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Fife's record now sits at 11-6. As for Auburn Riverside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Fife will challenge Orting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.8, the Cardinals 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Auburn Riverside, they will take on Kentridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Ravens surely won't give up without a fight.
