Basketball Game Preview: Stella High Charter Academy Eagles vs. Middle College Cougars

Stella High Charter Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, Middle College a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Stella High Charter Academy Eagles will host the Middle College Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Back in December of 2024, Stella High Charter Academy had to suffer through a 69-42 loss at the hands of Foshay.

Meanwhile, Middle College played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Firebaugh and fell 75-35. The Cougars were down 55-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Middle College saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Haidyn Lakey dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. That was a full 62.9% of Middle College's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Zachary Bennett was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Stella High Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Middle College, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Stella High Charter Academy was dealt a bruising 80-30 loss at the hands of Middle College when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stella High Charter Academy was down 50-14.
