Softball Recap: Viewpoint Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Viewpoint put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Brentwood School Eagles. Considering the Patriots have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emjay Peck was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Viewpoint let Carly Nelson and Gwyneth Lewis run wild. Nelson scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Lewis went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to doubles, as she's now hit two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Summer Morgan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Viewpoint pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Brentwood School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Viewpoint and Brentwood School will both be playing Oakwood the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Owls at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Patriots will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
