Houghton waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the West Iron County Wykons 80-41. Given the Gremlins' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Wykons are ranked 559th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Houghton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for West Iron County, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houghton will head out to face off against Gwinn at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for West Iron County, they will venture away from home to take on Norway at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. West Iron County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
